Garment exporters can claim RoSL at pre GST rates till September

The Dollar Business Bureau The Ministry of Textiles issued a notification on August 1, as a transitional arrangement for the period July-September 2017, exporters of garments and made-ups can claim remission of state levies on rates there prior to the introduction of GST. Under the remission of state levies (RoSL) garments and exporters of made-ups are entitled to claim refunds of the levies paid, from the Central government. Post GST many exporters were demanding that the government retain RoSL under the duty drawback scheme which was announced by the Central Government in 2016 as part of the Rs.6000 crore package, announced by the textile ministry. Indian denim industry may touch Rs 54,600 cr by 2023

The denim industry in India is currently worth Rs 30,000-crore and has been expanding at an annual rate of 15 per cent for the last five years. Two textile parks approved for Uttarakhand

PTI Two textile parks have been approved for Uttarakhand and the state government has to decide where it wants to set them up, Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta, said recently.In these parks, weavers will be provided hi-tech infrastructure facilities, modern technology, training and raw materials, he said.The minister from Almora constituency said he will especially try to improve the conditions of the weavers living in remote areas of Uttarakhand and in the hilly areas along the Sino-Indian border.He said this will help in reducing migration in the hilly areas in search of jobs and not only the weavers but educated and skilled youth will also get work opportunities.
