Two textile parks approved for Uttarakhand

PTI Two textile parks have been approved for Uttarakhand and the state government has to decide where it wants to set them up, Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta, said recently.In these parks, weavers will be provided hi-tech infrastructure facilities, modern technology, training and raw materials, he said.The minister from Almora constituency said he will especially try to improve the conditions of the weavers living in remote areas of Uttarakhand and in the hilly areas along the Sino-Indian border.He said this will help in reducing migration in the hilly areas in search of jobs and not only the weavers but educated and skilled youth will also get work opportunities.  

Revised tech upgradation fund scheme for textiles soon

The Dollar Business Bureau  The government will soon launch the revised Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) to accelerate textile and jute production and support export oriented units. The scheme, first launched in 1999, is aimed at accelerating investments in the textiles sector through 5% interest reimbursement. It also focuses on quality, branding and exports of textile products at a faster scale. Govt to set up three textile parks in each state to promote industry

Deepak Kumar | The Dollar Business Citing the development of textile parks as a key agenda, the government on Wednesday proposed to establish at least three such units in each state to encourage textile production and push exports. “The government has given an utmost importance to selecting ideal locations for these textile parks. We urge the state governments to participate in this mission and promote domestic production. We aim to establish at least three such units in each state to strengthen India’s textile industry,” said Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of Textiles.
