CBEC amends Bill of Entry norms to prescribe late charges

The Dollar Business Bureau The Central Board of Excise and Customs has amended the Bill of Entry (Electronic Integrated Declaration) Regulations and Bill of Entry (Forms) Regulations – a part of the Customs Act, 1962 - to prescribe late charges for delayed filing. The amendments have been made to prescribe a late charge for delayed filing of Bill of Entry. After the amendment, the importer will be required to present the bill of entry before the end of the next day after the aircraft or vessel or vehicle carrying the goods has arrived at a customs station at which such goods are to be cleared for home consumption or for warehousing. GSL delivers first fast patrol vessel to Mauritius

The Dollar Business Bureau Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Indian subcontinent’s largest exporter of ships, on Monday delivered MCGS VICTORY, the first Fast Patrol Vessel which is designed and manufactured in-house, to Mauritius Coast Guard. “Indo-Mauritian Defence Co-operation got another fillip with the delivery of first Fast Patrol Vessel, MCGS VICTORY, designed and built in-house by Goa Shipyard Limited for Mauritius Coast Guard, on 26th September 2016 at GSL,” said a Shipping Ministry release. India, Egypt discuss investment potential in Suez Canal project

Source: PTI Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have discussed counter terrorism and explored the possibilities of Indian investment in the ambitious Suez Canal project. “There was discussion on how this project offered investment opportunities for India,” External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said. The extension of the multi-billion Suez Canal project opened very recently. This was the first meeting between the two leaders. India has had historical relationship with Egypt. “This was an important occasion for the two leaders to exchange views. Reliance Defence inks pact with UAE firm for naval ship manufacturing

The Dollar Business Bureau Reliance Defence Limited (RDL), a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Limited, has signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) for the setting up of a strategic partnership for the construction of naval ships to cater to the demands of the Gulf Cooperation Council over the next 10 years. “Under this MoU, RDL and ADSB are investigating the opportunity to set up a strategic partnership for the construction of naval ships, including frigates, destroyers and other specialised vessels to address the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) over the next 10 years. “The agreement could also see ADSB delivering maintenance repair, overhaul and refit services to the vessels, in line with regioan requirements," the Anil Ambani-led firm said in ...
