Codex standards adopted for 3 spices, India's efforts pay off

The Dollar Business Bureau  In a major recognition of efforts by India for benchmarking international spices trade, global standards setting body Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) has accepted three Codex standards for white, green and black pepper, thyme and cumin, setting a course for universal agreement for identifying quality spices in different countries.   The member-nations of CAC, which held the 40th session meeting during July 17-22 in Geneva, unanimously agreed on the adoption of Codex standards for the given three spices that would facilitate in setting up of a common process for standardisation of spices for their availability and global trade.  “The Codex standards were adopted in the wake of India conducting three sessions of Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) ...

Shantha Biotech starts Rs.250-cr unit in Hyderabad

Sharath Chowdary Shantha Biotechnics has started commercial production of its new manufacturing unit in Muppireddipalli Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Hyderabad. With an investment of over Rs.250 crore, the new facility has been built to produce and export vaccines to the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and other international markets. The company is completely owned by Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of French pharma company Sanofi Group. Another manufacturing facility is also being set up in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs.450 crore for the production of Insuman, human insulin, used in the treatment of diabetes. Cadilla Health Care stocks fall by 3%, WHO notice brings concern

India to lead World Health Assemblys drive on intellectual property
