India, Norway discuss innovation projects in renewable energy

The Dollar Business Bureau India and Norway have a joint call to target companies for innovation projects in the area of renewable energy. “A joint call was launched between the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of India and Research Council of Norway during a matchmaking workshop at the Norwegian Embassy on renewable energy,” according to an official statement. “The call is for $1 million, targeting innovation projects in companies collaborating with research institutions in the field of renewable energy,” it said. NTPC Board approves Rs.323.35 cr for 50 MW wind power project

The Dollar Business Bureau The board of NTPC, India's biggest energy conglomerate, has cleared Rs.323.35 crore investment in the public sector unit’s (PSU) first wind power project of 50 MW in Rojmal, Gujarat. In its BSE filing, the company said, “The Board of Directors of NTPC in its meeting held on November 30, 2016 has accorded investment approval for Rojmal Wind Energy Project (50 MW) in Gujarat at an appraised estimated cost of Rs.323.35 crore subject to signing of Power Project Agreement.” This will be NTPC’s first wind energy project, the statement said. Inox Wind wins 50-MW order from Atria Power

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s wind energy solution provider Inox Wind Ltd has secured an order for 50 MW wind power project from Atria Wind Power on Monday. This project will be commissioned by March next year in the state of Gujarat, the company said in a statement. According to Inox Wind, the order comprises the supply as well as the installation of 25 units of 113 metre rotor diametre turbine combined with the 120 metre hub height tower. Power generation may attract $11.4 trn over 25 yrs

The Dollar Business Bureau Global power generation may attract around $11.4 trillion investment in the next 25 years, Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) forecasted in its New Energy Outlook 2016. Though the prices of coal and gas are likely to remain low, electricity system all over the world could gravitate towards renewable sources in the next few decades, it said. Tata Power to acquire Welspun Renewable Energy

The Dollar Business Bureau  Tata Power announced that it will acquire Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt (WREPL) for an undisclosed amount. Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt is a subsidiary of Welspun Energy. In a statement released, it was announced that the subsidiary of Tata Power, Tata Power Renewable Energy will acquire WREPL through share purchase agreements. WREPL has the largest operating solar portfolios and is spread across 10 states. It has 1,140 MW of renewable power project works consisting of about 990 MW solar power projects and 150 MW of wind power projects. LM Wind Power inaugurates second plant in India

The Dollar Business Bureau LM Wind Power, the world's largest independent supplier of wind turbine rotor blades, announced the inauguration of its second plant in India on Wednesday. The first announcement was made in November 2015. The Denmark-based company said in a release  that the manufacturing unit situated in Vadodara, Gujarat has begun production of wind turbine blades almost a month ahead of its schedule,.
