Tata Power Solar exports record 1GW solar modules

Tata Solar Power has recorded a steady rise in number of modules in last 27 years.

India’s leading integrated solar player, Tata Power Solar, has accomplished the milestone of exporting solar modules of 1 GW and witnessed a 60% increase in shipment in the past 5 years.

“Tata Power Solar has successfully shipped 1 GW solar modules worldwide, a first for any Indian solar manufacturer,” the company said in a statement on Monday.

With both modules and cell manufacturing capacities, the achieved milestone firms the company's place as one of India's largest players in PV (photovoltaic) module manufacturing sector, the statement said.

Tata Solar Power has recorded a steady increase in the volume of modules in the last 27 years, with more than 60% of their modules exported over the past five years.

The company has shipped modules across the world to more than 30 nations including the US, Australia, Canada and Europe, it said.

Commenting on the achievement, Ashish Khanna, Executive Director and CEO, Tata Solar Power, said, “Achieving the milestone of shipping 1 GW is a testimony to company’s global competitiveness of module and its superior quality, refined over the past 27 years.”

Tata Power Solar, based in Bengaluru, now independently operate as a fully-owned arm of Tata Power.

The company has manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, having a production capacity to produce 180 MW of cells and 300 MW of modules.
