India-based IT and consultancy giant Wipro Ltd. on Monday announced that it has secured a multi-year contract from Denmark’s utility provider Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) to develop a new IT platform for the company. "It (Wipro) has won a multi-year engagement with NRGI, one of the top five utility providers in Denmark, to transform its customer relations management (CRM), billing and service bureau operations," Wipro Ltd. said in a statement. Wipro will develop a customer information system (CIS) – a service model based on Oracle’s billing and customer care platform, Oracle CS solution and Meter Data Management programme – for NRGI based on the new wholesale market model required in the Danish electricity market. The new IT platform, once developed, will enable the Danish utility major to offer CIS services to several small and medium utility companies in Denmark; which, in turn, will propel the company’s revenue growth. NRGI envisions to double its revenue in the next five years. “We are happy to have Wipro as our IT partner as the company is one of the best system integrators of Oracle solutions and has one of the most comprehensive portfolios of solutions in the industry. In addition to helping us become more customer-centric, the new IT platform will also create an opportunity for us to grow in the Danish market,” said Gert Rieder, NRGI Infrastructure. Denmark is opening up its energy sector for foreign investors and creating regulatory framework to make its market more transparent and competitive. Wipro’s entrance in the Danish markets will also encourage its utilities companies to explore more digital initiatives and foreign collaborations.
